Hi, I'm Sarah

Mom of 3, keto enthusiast, and your new kitchen friend.

My Story

I'm Sarah Mitchell. I'm 38, I live in Round Rock (just north of Austin, Texas), and I'm married to Dave, a software engineer who will eat anything I put in front of him (bless him). We have three kids: Ethan (12), Olivia (9), and Mason (5).

I used to be a marketing manager at a mid-size tech company in Austin. I left corporate after Mason was born — a decision that was equal parts dream-come-true and terrifying. I loved being home, but I also lost myself a little. The weight crept on. The energy disappeared. I was surviving, not thriving.

In January 2022, I started keto for the fourth time. The first three times, I quit. I made separate meals, felt isolated, and fell off the wagon within a month. This time, I changed one thing: I decided I would not cook two dinners. If my family ate it, I ate it. If I ate it, they ate it.

That single rule changed everything. I lost 42 lbs in 6 months. My energy came back. My brain fog cleared. And my family — surprisingly — started eating the same meals as me and (mostly) liking them.

I started this blog because every week, another mom at school pickup would ask me what I was doing. "You look different," they'd say. "What changed?" And I'd tell them — not as a doctor or an expert, but as a real mom who figured out what works.

What You'll Find Here

Real recipes. Not keto versions of fancy food — just dinners my whole family eats. Sheet pan chicken, keto tacos, cheeseburger casserole. Food that looks like food.

Real budgets. I feed my family of 5 on keto for under $130 a week. No $7 keto bread, no specialty ingredients. Just real food, smart shopping, and meal prep.

Real honesty. I'm not a perfect keto mom. I've hidden in the pantry eating a Quest bar so I didn't have to share. I've had birthday cake at my kid's party and not spiraled. I'm honest about what keto is really like — the good, the bad, and the "please don't ask me what I weigh."

My Family

Dave — My husband. 40, software engineer. He eats everything I make and has fully embraced keto dinners (he still has beer on weekends, and I don't judge).

Ethan (12) — Eats anything. He's the easiest kid at the dinner table. His favorite keto dinner: cheeseburger casserole.

Olivia (9) — Adventurous but opinionated. She'll try anything once and has strong feelings about what she tries twice. Favorite: keto pizza.

Mason (5) — My toughest critic. He survived on cheese sticks and chicken nuggets for two years. Now he eats "green noodles" (zucchini noodles) and actually likes them. Progress.

What I'm Not

I'm not a doctor. I'm not a nutritionist. I'm not a personal trainer. I don't have a degree in anything related to food or health.

I'm a mom who figured out how to make keto work for a real family with a real budget and real picky eaters. Everything I share is from my own experience. Please talk to your doctor before making major diet changes — I did, and it was the right call.
